Bandwagons Ahoy!

I am in awe of the sheer amount of effort that the illustrious Gagaman has shoehorned into the DCJY's Top 100 feature (coming reeeeeeal soon, folks!), but I just noticed that Games Radar have published a 'Top 7' list of the DC's finest moments. Pah. It's not a patch on GM's effort but I thought I'd link to it anyway...just to show you how the pretenders like to roll...

Let the bandwagon begin! The top 7 screams "we just remembered the Dreamcast's 10th this morning and threw together this list."

I mean really: "Trying to nail down the absolute best games for a system that’s been officially dead since 2001 is tougher than you might think"? No it's not. If anything, it's difficult to create a top 10 without leaving out a number of great games. At least they tried.

Yeah, I suppose so - at least they actually acknowledge the DC without calling it 'ill-fated,' which is something EVERY website/mag does when they mention it. They also have a fairly interesting feature on how Sega could re-launch the original Dreamcast as a sort of budget machine. Which is, erm, interesting.

Interesting. It's good enough that they remembered it, and every game on the list deserves to be there (maybe except for the NFL game), but, seriously, why 7? Of all the numbers? Am I missing something here?

I mean, 10 is the usual, and even 8 would have had some significance, but 7?

*I meant 9 instead of 8

If anyone manages to write a longer Dreamcast article than what I'm working on, I'll eat my hat (or rather my sombrero).

How big is your sombrero, does it have to make any sense and am I allowed to copy and paste large chunks of dialogue from Shenmue?

Are you looking for some sailors?

Ah yes, large block quotes to pad out articles. Takes me back to my college days...

Why all the hate? Isn't everyone allowed to love the Dreamcast?

Also: It's 7 because GR runs Top 7 features every Monday.

hey fuck you guys gamesradar is awesome! how dare you insult them barry!!!! and whoever wrote this post..... i'm a big dreamcast fan, but you guys give us a bad name!!

Woh. Take a rage dump dude. I love GamesRadar's articles, I just said that top 7 is a weak number for a top list. No need to defend a website by throwing about "fuck yous", especially on such a joyous day as the eve of 9-9. Sorry dark magshin, but you're the one giving Dreamcast fans a bad name.

Since no-one seems to have noticed yet...

"Blue Swirl hosts a large repository of VMU games, from ports of classics like Tetris, Metroid, Breakout, and Snake, to original ultra-low-res creations. The fine, if a bit pretentious, Dreamcast super-fans at The Dreamcast Junkyard put together a video compilation of some of the most-bestest VMU creations. It’s a seemly final statement on the level of passion Sega inspired when they released the Dreamcast 10 years ago – so much that even their memory device achieved a cult following."

Lol @ haters

Seriously, guys, don't you have a fucking sense of humour and/or common sense?

If we really hated Gamesradar or that particular article do you think we would care to post it here?

Chill the fuck out and celebrate...

Woh, where did this GamesRadar hate come from? I love how we're "pretentious" because 7 wasn't enough for us. lol

NebachadnezzaR said...

I'm actually convinced that the guys over at Gamesradar themselves were less pissed (if any pissed at all) with this post than their, apparently, die-hard fans.

At least I took that "pretentious" bit as just a humorous nod at this post, rather than an actual attack.

Come on, we're all friends here.
